If you haven't listened to My Morning Jacket yet, run out and buy all their albums - truly an incredible band.
Through four albums and numerous EPs, My Morning Jacket have been gaining wider audiences for their reverb-drenched form of rock n roll. From humble beginnings in a local barn, the band have found themselves on a major label and with allies such as David Grohl, who was an instant convert after attending one of their blistering live shows.
'Explosive' and 'blistering' are terms that are often thrown around upon stumbling across a My Morning Jacket live show. This is almost in direct contrast to the recorded output that is often gentle and subtle, although perfect nonetheless.
"We try to make it two different worlds, 'cause I think it is almost impossible and boring to try and recreate an album to the tee when you play it live. If people wanted to see that they could just put on the record and have a bunch of people come over and listen to it" concedes James with his gentle drawl. "So we try to make it to where we are still playing the songs and you get the feeling if you like the songs you are still gonna like 'em live, but we just have a lot of fun and try and make it as powerful as we can. After traveling all day and being in the van we just try to get up on stage and let it rip, and not worry about trying to restrain it. We just come on and start playing and let it go where it needs to go.
