Alright, so I've gotten a little carried away with music this week, but how could I not? So much going on ...
Since high school I've been listening to Luna. Today, I started thinking about my favorite bands and this would have to be one of them. Sarah and I had a great date to a Luna show at the Variety Playhouse back in '00. One of those nights where everything was perfect - Luna was on, and Sarah and I had just enjoyed some cold beer, Yacht dogs and boiled peanuts at the Euclid Ave. Yacht Club preshow- anyone who knows me is thinking "that's a perfect Steely night for sure."
There's those bands where the lyrics just resonate with what you're going through in life and Luna was always one of those bands for me. You music fans know what I'm talking about. So when Luna decided to call it quits after 12 years on the road, I wanted to be there for one of the final shows. I asked Dave and Tarah (who had never heard Luna) to come along. This was a double-concert night for the four of us - Medeski Martin and Wood at the Variety and then off to the now defunct Echo Lounge, here in our very own East Atlanta, for Luna. I must admit, the show was kind of a let down - The Echo Lounge had sold way too many tickets and we had to push our way in through the front entrance just to hear the show, but hey, I was there and it felt good.
Luna just released a DVD from the this last tour, Tell Me Do You Miss Me, and yes I do. See the trailer here: TELL ME DO YOU MISS ME

They also put out a greatest hits album, called the the ever-so-creative "The Best of Luna" - pick it up, you really can't go wrong.
